Fire Emergency Door Unlocker

Mission Description

  • Context: In emergencies like fires, doors should unlock automatically to let people out (and firefighters in). Create an Emergency Door Unlocker system that senses danger and releases a door latch without human intervention.
  • Task: Use a flame sensor or gas sensor (MQ-2 for smoke/gas) in combination with a PIR sensor (to detect people). The flame/gas sensor monitors for fire signs (flame, smoke, or gas leak). Program the controller such that if a potential fire is detected AND the PIR sensor senses people in the room, the system will immediately activate a servo attached to a door lock model – unlocking or opening the door. Also trigger an alarm (buzzer and red flashing LED) to alert everyone. If no danger, the door stays locked normally.
  • Expected Output: A life-saving door control demo. For instance, bringing a lit match or lighter near the flame sensor (carefully, in a controlled way) causes the system to spring into action: the servo turns (unlocking the door bolt), the buzzer sounds and LED flashes. If you simulate a false alarm (like a little smoke but no person inside, or vice versa a person moving but no fire), you can program logic to handle those cases (maybe alarm but not unlock if no one is inside). This project closely mirrors real building safety installations, underscoring how robotics and sensors can protect lives during disasters.
