Mission Description
- Context: Gas leaks in kitchens or labs can be dangerous. Design a Gas Leak Detector that can sniff out a gas leak (like propane or cooking gas) and warn people before things get serious.
- Task: Use a gas sensor (MQ series or similar) that detects combustible gas levels. Interface it with your controller and calibrate a threshold for what’s “too high” (indicating a possible leak). Program the system to monitor gas concentration. If it exceeds the safe threshold, trigger a loud buzzer alarm and a red warning LED. You might also display a message like “Gas Leak!” on a screen or send a wireless alert if possible. For normal levels, perhaps a green LED indicates all is safe.
- Expected Output: A safety alarm for gas. In a controlled test (for example, by carefully exposing the sensor to a bit of lighter gas or alcohol fumes in a well-ventilated area), the device detects the rise in gas level. As soon as it crosses the limit, the buzzer wails and red LED flashes. In clean air, the device stays calm with a green light. This mission shows how robotics and sensors can prevent accidents, connecting to real home and community safety monitors.
