Line-Follower Delivery Robot

Mission Description

  • Context: Robots in factories or hospitals often follow lines on the floor to deliver goods. You will make a Line-Follower Robot that can carry a small object along a drawn path, which could represent delivering medicine in a hospital or books in a library.
  • Task: Assemble a simple robot car with two motors and line sensors (IR sensors) pointing at the ground. Draw a thick black line on paper or create a tape path on the floor. Program the robot with a line-following algorithm: the sensors detect contrast (dark line vs light floor) and adjust motor speeds to stay on the line. Place a small tray on the robot to carry an item (like an eraser or toy).
  • Expected Output: An autonomous rover that follows a line smoothly from start to end. When you test it, the robot will move forward on the line, turning left or right on curves by itself to stay on track. It will carry the β€œdelivery” item to the end of the line (the destination) without human help. This demonstrates a real- world solution for automated delivery and the basics of robotics navigation.
