Parking Distance Assistant

Context: Cars have parking sensors to avoid bumps. Create a Parking Distance Assistant device that beeps to help a driver park safely without hitting an obstacle (like a wall or another car).

Task: Use an ultrasonic sensor to measure distance in front of a model car or device. Program the controller to produce different beep patterns depending on distance. For example, if the object is far away (> 50 cm), no beep; as it comes closer (< 50 cm) start slow beeps; very close (< 20 cm) trigger rapid beeps or a continuous tone indicating “stop now.” You can simulate this by moving a piece of cardboard towards the sensor. Optionally, display the distance or a bar graph on LEDs as well.

Expected Output: A range-warning gadget. In practice, when an object is distant, the device is quiet. As the object (your hand or a box) moves nearer to the sensor, the buzzer starts pulsing – first slowly, then faster and finally a solid tone if it’s extremely close. This mirrors real car reverse sensors and highlights how robotics can enhance safety in everyday life.
