Mission Description
- Context: Ever left clothes drying outside or windows open when a surprise rain hits? Create a Rain Monitor Alarm that detects rainfall and alerts you, so you can react quickly (for example, cover things or close windows).
- Task: Use a rain sensor (or you can improvise with a moisture sensor or even two wires that get connected by water) placed where it would get hit by rain. Connect it to the Junkbot Core and add a buzzer or LED for alarm. Program the device to continuously check the sensor. When rain drops are detected (sensor reading goes above a threshold, indicating water), the device should immediately sound a buzzer and maybe blink a blue LED. When the sensor is dry (no rain), it remains silent. If available, you could also send a wireless notification, but a local alarm is fine.
- Expected Output: A rain alarm gadget. To simulate in a demo, you can drip some water onto the sensor pad – the system should recognize it and promptly ring the buzzer loudly, possibly accompanied by a flashing light. Once you dry the sensor (rain stops), the buzzer stops. This device mirrors real rain alarm systems which farmers or homeowners use to protect against sudden rain, tying coding to weather-related problem-solving.
