RFID Access Control System

Mission Description

  • Context: Schools and offices use ID cards for entry. Construct an RFID Access Control prototype to understand how electronic locks work – allowing entry with a valid card and denying unknown ones.
  • Task: Connect an RFID reader module to your controller and have a few RFID cards or tags (one can be “authorized”, others “unauthorized”). Program the system to store the authorized card’s ID. When a card is tapped on the reader, the system should read its unique ID. If it matches the stored authorized ID, activate an “unlock” sequence: e.g., a servo moves to open a mini gate or a green LED flashes with a welcome message on an LCD. If it’s not recognized, keep the “door” locked and maybe flash a red LED and display “Access Denied”.
  • Expected Output: A card-based door lock demo. When you swipe the approved RFID tag, the device quickly responds by moving the servo (unlocking the door latch model) and perhaps showing “Hello [Name]” on a screen. Swiping any other card results in no movement of the servo (door stays locked) and a red light with a “Denied” message. This shows how offices secure doors and how students’ ID cards or library cards could operate electronically, tying into real security and school management systems.
