Mission Description
- Context: Many homes use roof water tanks. Running out of water or overflowing can be a problem. Create a Water Tank Monitor that shows the water level and alerts when the tank is nearly empty or full.
- Task: Mount an ultrasonic sensor at the top of a model “tank” (this could be a tube or box) to measure the distance to the water surface. Program the microcontroller to translate this distance into a fill level (for example, short distance = tank full, long distance = tank low). Use LEDs or a small bar graph display to indicate level (e.g., 4 LEDs for 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%). Additionally, if the level goes below 25%, sound a buzzer or display “REFILL needed!”; if it’s 100% (distance very short), maybe alert to “Turn off pump” with another signal. Expected Output: A mini water level gauge. Demonstrating it might involve moving a flat object inside the model tank to mimic water height. The system responds by lighting up LEDs corresponding to the “water” height, and when the object goes very low (tank almost empty) the device beeps, showing a red light. When it’s very high (tank full), maybe another distinct beep or light signals it’s full. This project relates to smart home systems ensuring efficient water usage (important in water-scarce communities).
